Talking trash: Information, ideas and apple cider vinegar
Solid waste management isn't rocket science, folks. But even rocket scientists need accurate information to remain in compliance with city ordinances, keep good relationships with their neighbors and have their trash collected efficiently.First and foremost, I can't say it enough BAG YOUR TRASH! Reuse plastic grocery bags, buy ordinary kitchen and lawn bags or get the fancy designer ones that will hold a rhinoceros! It's all good as long as we're making a concerted effort to keep trash contained. This is even more important for icky garbage like non-compostable food scraps, disposable diapers or pet waste, which is required by law to be securely wrapped in plastic before being deposited in any collection container.
There will still be times when your Dumpster or roll-out cart gets yucky.
My personal mantra for everything from head to toe is apple cider vinegar. Ask me about disinfecting and deodorizing a trash container and my first response will, in fact, be vinegar!

Splash some vinegar in your container from time to time to keep it fresh without running the risk of a random haz-mat situation. It's not an operating suite; it's just a trash can! Recycle the plastic bottle when it's empty.
